Christmas Toys on Fir Tree Branch

Share the magic of Christmas with a Nana B original.

Made with care and creative flair, these lovingly hand crafted pieces have been designed to enjoy year after year.

Where it all began

Hello, I'm Nana B. A proud Nana and avid crafter based in the mighty Waikato.

My obsession with designing and building bespoke Christmas Advent calendars began back in 2015 when two of our grandsons, aged 5 and 7 at the time, needed a school holiday project.

Their Mum suggested making some reusable advent calendars that could be filled with goodies other than chocolate and lollies, and so I made some wooden frames to hold some little boxes, gave the boys a selection of stickers, papers, tapes, buttons and beads, and we constructed the first three (the boys' younger sister couldn't miss out!) Nana B originals.

Every December the grandies calendars come out - and while the fillings have substantially changed over the past 7 years, the calendars haven't. That's because each Nana B original has been crafted to last.

My designs take anywhere from 5 - 16 hours each to complete, depending on their intricacy, and my pieces' pricing reflects the materials, difficulty, and craft involved.

Unlike mass-produced advent calendars, every Nana B original is unique, though I can recreate most designs for siblings, friends, and others, provided I have sufficient notice and availability.

My 5 Step Process

Step 1: Inspiration

This can come from anywhere. A book I'm reading, an interesting online find, , something I spot while out shopping, or a sudden light-bulb moment. 'Ta-da, new advent calendar idea now brewing!'

Step 2: Sketches

Here, I work out how I want the piece to look, and how I can physically, realistically bring it to life.
